Adoptions
Adopting an animal from an SPCA, humane organization or rescue group can be a very rewarding experience. You will be giving a homeless animal a second chance in life and providing it with a safe, loving "forever" home.

* Kittens and Puppies adopted within the immediate area of the Yarmouth SPCA receive a certificate for $40 off spay or $30 off neuter surgery for Puppies or a certificate for $30 off spay or $20 off neuter surgery for kittens. This program was set up under the Evelyn and Reginald Spay and Neuter Trust Fund. The will of Evelyn Halstead states that this fund is "for the care and treatment of domestic animals in the Yarmouth Area and in particular for the spaying and neutering of such animals." We apologize that we cannot offer this program to animals outside of the Yarmouth Area.
When we adopt animals that are under 6 months of age to people who live outside of the Yarmouth Area, we gratefully ask them to assume all costs with spaying or neutering. At the time of adoption, to insure that this animal will be spayed or neutered, we require completion of a "Proof of Spay/Neuter Deposit" Form. Each adopter must pay a refundable deposit of $100 for puppies and $50 for kittens. When you have your pet fixed, ask your veterinarian to sign and date the form in the area provided. Return the form to us and we will refund your deposit by cheque, by mail.

The Yarmouth Branch was the first Branch formed in 1900 with a shelter opening in 1983. The shelter has the third largest intake in the province.
