Advocacy

The Nova Scotia SPCA Advocacy Committee was formed in January 2009. The committee's functions include:

  • Researching animal abuse and cruelty issues in the province to inform position statements.
  • Working closely with the Policy Committee on position statements.
  • Paying attention to news and bulletins for upcoming events involving animals in the province.
  • Drafting letters to the editor and to other organizations.
  • Working closely with the Public Relations Committee on public statements.
  • Working closely with the Education Committee on educating the public about systemic animal abuse.
  • Coordinating with other local advocacy organizations.
