Community SupportAnimal welfare is a community issue, and the Nova Scotia SPCA provides services to the communities in which it is based to address animal cruelty, education and public awareness, and the care of abandoned, abused and neglected domestic animals. While the SPCA makes an important contribution to animal welfare in Nova Scotia, the Society is just part of the solution to creating humane communities. Municipal animal control or animal services divisions, animal rescue groups, trap-neuter-return groups, the NS Department of Agriculture, the NS Department of Natural Resources and wildlife rehabilitation centres are also an important part of the solution. This section of the website contains additional information on the Nova Scotia SPCA’s role in community animal welfare support and provides links to other organizations, departments and resources that may offer assistance. |
